Tess Nievera
Physiotherapy AssistantSpeaks: English, Tagalog (Filipino)Tess is a Physiotherapy Support Personnel/Assistant at Central Scarborough Physiotherapy for more than 10 years. She works closely with the Physiotherapists to assist patients in recovering from their injuries by carrying out the treatment plans. She is also a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in the Philippines with four years of experience as an internationally trained Physiotherapist.
Maria Theresa Narvas
PhysiotherapistSpeaks: English, Tagalog (Filipino)Maria Theresa graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in University of Perpetual Help in the Philippines. Since then, she has worked as a Physical Therapist in a Chiropractic Clinic for three years and also worked as a private PT for five years before leaving the Philippines in 2008.
In Canada, she worked as a physiotherapy assistant since 2010 and has worked for pt Health for four years. She became a Registered Physiotherapist here in Canada in 2017. She has attended various seminars to update her knowledge through The International Centre for Disability and Rehabilitation Philippine Working Group.
Her treatments include manual therapy, electrotherapy and providing individualized exercise prescriptions.
Karandeep Riar
ChiropractorSpeaks: English, Hindi, PunjabiDr. Karandeep S. Riar earned a Honours Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University and then went on to complete a Doctorate in Chiropractic. While completing his one-year internship, Dr. Riar was recognized with the Health Centre Award for clinical excellence. Dr. Riar has obtained in-depth training in chiropractic adjusting, myofascial release therapy, instrument assisted soft tissue therapy, functional movement analysis, the use of various modalities, orthotics therapy and rehabilitation therapy.
Dr. Riar also holds a certificate in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University. Dr. Riar is a firm advocate of patient-centered evidence-based healthcare. He spends a lot of time keeping updated on current literature and attending various musculoskeletal seminars to expand his knowledge and apply it to patient care. His approach consists of getting patients out of pain as well as identifying and correcting aberrant movement and motor patterns that led to the patient’s problem in the first place.
In his spare time, Dr. Riar enjoys keeping fit through resistance training, running and playing basketball.
Dr. Riar is certified in Medical Acupuncture, Graston Technique M1, Myofascial Release Therapy, and Custom Orthotic Therapy.
Lorena Gustilo
Massage TherapistSpeaks: English, Tagalog (Filipino)Lorena is a compassionate certified Massage Therapist since 2021 who helps clients/patients achieve balance and relieve pains and tensions. She combines the techniques of deep tissue and myofascial release with dynamic stretching. She is experienced in using hot stone and decompression cupping techniques.
Joyce Guillermo
Massage TherapistSpeaks: English, Tagalog (Filipino)Maria “Joyce” Guillermo is a 2020 graduate of Pharma-Medical Science College of Canada and was awarded with Certificate of Excellence for outstanding performance in Massage Therapy Program. She started her Massage Therapy career treating variety levels of injury and conditions. Her passion on helping people relive pain, stress and injuries to ensure they feel better without restrictions on their day-to-day activities motivated her to choose Registered Massage Therapy as her second career. She specializes in Swedish massage, deep tissue, hot stone massage, myofascial release technique, pregnancy massage and Trigger Point Therapy techniques.
On top of her busy career, she also enjoys playing table tennis with her family in her spare time.

PhysiotherapistSpeaks: English, FarsiJavad’s been working at Central Scarborough Physiotherapy since 2004. He has achieved his McKenzie Certification (A & B) and a certification with Acupuncture Foundation of Canada (AFCI). He offers his patients the latest assessment and treatment techniques including sport taping, mobilization and manipulation mentored in Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute (APTEI).
He has worked predominantly in orthopedics with additional experience in geriatrics, outpatient, and long term care as well as sport injuries. Javad enjoys a balanced life outside of work, including hiking, biking and traveling to explore the new places. He is excited to be a part of Central Scarborough team and looks forward to working with you to help on your road to recovery.
Elise Kopman
Occupational TherapistSpeaks: EnglishElise completed her undergraduate degree at Western University in Health Sciences and graduated in 2018. Upon graduating, she went on to work at a clinic as a rehabilitation therapy assistant and then as a health and wellness coach. In 2020, she returned to Western to complete her Master’s in occupational therapy and graduated in 2022.
Elise has experience working in a variety of occupational therapy settings with various population groups. She has worked in outpatient orthopaedics, outpatient rehabilitation, and has experience working with individuals who have been involved in motor vehicle accidents. Elise believes in using a holistic and patient-centered approach to care to work together to achieve client goals.
Outside of work, Elise enjoys cooking, spending time with her friends and family, and travelling.
TEENA JOHN
PhysiotherapistSpeaks: English, Malayalam, TamilTeena is a Resident Physiotherapist based in Canada with extensive experience in treating neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from India, where she accumulated four years of hands-on experience in diverse clinical settings.
In pursuit of advancing her expertise, Teena obtained a Post Graduate Diploma from Lambton College in Canada, further enhancing her ability to provide evidence-based and patient-centered care. Her clinical approach integrates the latest advancements in physiotherapy with a focus on individualized treatment plans.
Teena is dedicated to helping patients achieve their optimal health and functional goals through a combination of compassionate care and advanced therapeutic techniques.

Massage TherapistSpeaks: EnglishMost interested with the overall longevity of the human body, he’s been into rehabilitation, athletic and aesthetic training for most of his fitness training career since October 2008.
To ensure an effective treatment, Andrae completes thorough orthopedic assessments involving special tests, various range of motion testing and palpation to target painful areas. The different techniques including Swedish and deep tissue massage, joint mobilizations, fascial, Graston and adhesion techniques, used interchangeably within a patient’s comfort level. When necessary to stimulate tissue, a powerful percussion massager is used to increase blood flow.
Involved mostly in self-study, he’s been able to piece together critical elements of healing within the body and augment the body’s immune system to create significant pain relief. Understanding the body’s response to various training principles.
Kavita Thakkar
PhysiotherapistSpeaks: English, Gujarati, HindiKavita Thakkar is an internationally educated physiotherapist from India. She completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree from Gujarat University and in 2018. She then completed a Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion at Durham College and is currently working with Lifemark as a physiotherapist.
Kavita’s interests lie in a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including neck, back, hip and knee arthritis, meniscal and ligamentous injuries, rotator cuff injuries, wrist and ankle sprains, repetitive use injuries, foot and heel pain, post-surgical rehabilitation for arthroscopy, arthroplasty and trauma.
Kavita is known for her ability to develop personalized treatment plans that cater to the unique needs and goals of each patient. Whether it’s a new injury or chronic symptoms, she uses a comprehensive approach to reduce pain and promote healing. Kavita is dedicated to helping her patients restore function, regain independence and live their life to the fullest.
Caprella Hufana
Massage TherapistSpeaks: English, Tagalog (Filipino)Caprella graduated from Medix College of Healthcare and registered with the CMTO in 2022. She worked as a Physiotherapist Assistant for over four years before becoming a Registered Massage Therapist. Her previous experience allowed her to work with clients with various conditions and of different ages and backgrounds whom she has helped to enjoy a better quality of life. She specializes in Swedish relaxation massage, deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, stretching and the prevention component of massage therapy by providing remedial exercises and education. Her approach ensures that each session suits a client’s needs and preferences. Her main objective is to help clients achieve their goals and help them achieve optimal health.

Zabir has more than 15 years of experience working as a Physiotherapist in various settings in India and Canada.
He continues to expand his knowledge and skill set and has taken courses on manipulation, rapid myofascial release, Vestibular rehab, acupuncture and dry needling, Functional capacity evaluation and TMJ management. He has been working with pt Health since 2018 as a Physiotherapist and now he is the Clinic Director at Four Seasons Physiotherapy - pt Health.
Zabir strongly believes he can help people through his skills, knowledge and passion for assisting people recover from injuries.
Mohammad Ayaz Himmat Hasan Ansari
PhysiotherapistSpeaks: English, HindiMohammad is a dedicated physiotherapist with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree earned Internationally in 2020. With nearly three years of clinical experience offshore, he brings a strong foundation of knowledge and skills to his practice.
Mohammad is licensed and registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, with a special interest in Musculoskeletal, Neurological and Geriatric conditions. He is committed to providing personalised care and helping patients achieve their optimal health goals. He is proficient in manual therapy, exercise therapy, electrotherapy and includes evidence-based practice. He believes in open communication and working in the best interest of the patient.
Outside of his clinical work, Mohammad is passionate about exploring the streets, working out, hiking, sports and learning about different cultures. He enjoys spending time with friends and family and going out for strolls along the waterfront.
He is fluent in English, Hindi and Marathi.
